In 1951, residents of Evansville were intrigued by the small building with the rock floors. Soon enough, people started talking about Ronnie’s Fruit Stand and their selection of candies that were almost impossible to find anywhere else. The small fruit stand blossomed into an empire, all because of the hard work and dedication of Ronnie Ross. Ronnie dedicated his life to making sure he offered the best produce and plants to his loyal customers. Eventually, the business became a family one when he married and had his three children: RP, Chris and Rhonda. After many years of working as a family, Rhonda eventually took over the business from her father. Even after his passing in 2009, Rhonda has kept Variety Village just as Ronnie has always envisioned: customer focused and providing nothing but the best!
